I'm going somewhere...

I can barely contain myself. I am super excited to say that I will be going on my first trip out of the country (as I live in Canada). So yeah, FIRST TIME. So crazy. I'm leaving this Friday, and going on a plane all the way to California (I know, really not that far, but still exciting!!) So hopefully I'll be able to take some lovely photos with my new lens for my Canon Rebel xsi and some nice little videos, some of which will hopefully be worthy enough to post on here.

Thrift Shop

I've been an avid "thrift-er" since I was pretty young. Me and my mom use to go to the local second-hand shops quite frequently and I was always there to complain that it smelled like an old basement. At the time I didn't really get why my mom enjoyed it. I didn't get the point of buying somebody's old "junk".

As the years went on we continued to shop at thrift stores and I stared to understand. It started to become fun. I enjoyed looking through the random assortment of objects and clothing. I wanted to know the stories of them all, I wanted to understand them. I wanted to know why people would just throw their things away that they loved so much, for so many years.

As I became more comfortable with the whole idea of second-hand shops, my mom started buying me clothes. They were new to me, so I was always thrilled to get home, wash it and wear it to school the next day. I thought it was awesome that I could get a "new" shirt for a $1. It really didn't get any better than that for 10 year old me. Of course I didn't buy all my clothes second-hand, but I did get a good amount.

I still go thrifting, and even with my mom sometimes. I enjoy going. Some of my favourite things were thrifted, in fact I get quite a few compliments on some of them. It's nice to know that I don't always have to spend tons of money on clothes to still look nice, plus the fun of thrifting is to find that one treasured piece that is still so wonderful in all it's glory. I guess we'll just say thrifting is in my blood. I'll never stop. (I can't stop ♪ We can't stop  ... please don't laugh at my horrible references...I know it's cheese, but I couldn't help it!)

What your thoughts on thrifting? I'd love to know!
